Privacy Notice

1. About this notice

Jugs & Crimps is a service based in Alberta, Canada, available through jugsandcrimps.com, the web application and its mobile and optional watch applications. Jugs & Crimps helps individual climbers record climbs and review their progress. This notice explains how we handle information in providing those services.

2. Information you provide

When you create an account, we collect your first and last name, email address and password credentials. The service stores a password digest rather than a plaintext password. We also maintain account identifiers, authentication tokens and selected preferences.

We store climbing information you record, including gym and route references, session times, attempts, completion details, effort, falls, failure reasons and notes. We may store generated session summaries. If you submit route photos or other supported content, we process the images and associated upload information. Images can show other people or identifying details; submit content you have permission to provide.

Our website accepts an email address when you request beta access. If you contact support or share a diagnostic export, we receive the information in that message or file.

3. Location and photos

With device permission, the apps use your current location to help identify nearby gyms and send coordinates to our location-prediction service. Your recorded gym or route is also part of climbing history. You can use manual gym selection where available and change device permissions in system settings.

Photos taken or uploaded using supported devices may include associated information such as capture time, location and device details. What is collected or retained depends on the device, permissions and upload path. Image processing does not by itself ensure that this information has been removed.

4. Optional workout and health integration

With permission, the Apple applications use HealthKit for climbing workouts and heart-rate and energy information. Phone and Watch coordinate workout state. On Android, optional Health Connect integration writes climbing workouts and, when supplied by a paired watch and permitted, heart rate and calories. The reviewed Health Connect permission set does not read workouts from other apps. These permissions are optional to the core climbing workflow.

You control access through Apple Health or Health Connect settings. Information already saved to those systems has its own device/platform lifecycle.

5. Technical information and analytics

When you use the website or web application, we may record visits and interactions, including IP address, browser/device details, referring pages, campaign information, identifiers used to distinguish visits or visitors, and associations with your account. This helps us understand how the service is used. Recorded gym locations and IP addresses may be present even where automatic location lookup from an IP address is disabled.

The applications maintain limited diagnostic information about app behavior, request timing/status and failures. This may include device or app details needed to investigate a problem. You may choose to share a diagnostic export with support.

6. Why information is processed

We process information to authenticate accounts, save and show climbing history, support route/photo identification and session summaries, coordinate optional workout integrations, protect the service, investigate errors and respond to requests. Beta contact information is used to administer beta access as described when it is collected.

7. Service providers and international processing

We use service providers for hosting, file storage, backups, diagnostics and logging, communications, and automated processing. They may receive the information needed to perform those functions. Information may be processed outside Canada and subject to laws in other jurisdictions.

AI-assisted features

We may share submitted route photos, reference photos and related route information with AI service providers to identify or match routes. Supported session summaries may also involve sharing climbing details and notes for automated processing. We may retain processing requests and results as part of these features.

Photos, notes and associated information may contain people, identifying text or other personal information. We cannot guarantee that information supplied to an AI service provider contains no personal information. Automated processing does not make an image anonymous.

8. Retention and deletion

You can delete your account through https://app.jugsandcrimps.com/account Sign in and follow the account-deletion confirmation. Deletion removes your account and associated climbing history, sessions, favourites and connections and signs you out. It cannot be undone.

Shared gyms, routes and route photos remain available without attribution to your deleted account. Preservation is based on current shared route/location attachments; route merges transfer photo contributions to the surviving route. Personal image searches are removed, and unused owned files receive private-file cleanup. Prior sharing alone is not a permanent-retention rule.

Retained photos and associated records are not guaranteed to be anonymous. Known owner/contact/device identifiers are removed from stored upload metadata records, while GPS/location, capture time, camera specifications and copyright information remain. Shared image files are not rewritten, so embedded identifiers or identifying people/text may remain. Private-file cleanup can be asynchronous. Backups, logs, previously issued file links and service-provider copies have separate retention limitations.

9. Choices and rights

You can change device permissions and update information through available settings. Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, withdrawal of consent or other controls. We may need information to verify a request and may have legally permitted exceptions. Contact us at support@jugsandcrimps.com about these requests or privacy questions.

10. Children and regional availability

Jugs & Crimps is intended for adults worldwide where legally available. You must be at least 18 years old and have reached the age of majority under the law applicable where you live and use the service. Children should not create an account or submit information to the service.

11. Security and changes

We use safeguards appropriate to the information and service, but no system can guarantee absolute security. We will explain material changes to this notice through an appropriate channel.
